Saturday night in San Diego was one of the hottest in a while as fans packed into SOMA for the Sleeping With Sirens show in Point Loma. The crowd was a mix of young and...not so young because it's been said that "Sleeping with Sirens may get older but their fans keep getting younger". This was extremely evident with the gobs of teenage girls that were screaming as Kellin Quinn the charismatic lead singer took the stage and greeted the room.
With the first few notes from Kellin's voice, every audience member was immediately entranced by a tone that is not normally heard everyday from the new rock scene. It was as if a young Michael Jackson (circa "ABC" and "I'll Be There") was belting out My Chemical Romance tunes. A real show stopper for sure and what SWS is known for along with lyrics and music that come from the heart and speak directly to each fan in their own way.
Kellin and the rest of Sleeping With Sirens play from the heart and try to give each song their all which in today's over produced, ghost written music scene is a rarity. He even made a few tongue in cheek comments that were "Taylor" made and "Swift"ly agreed upon by the crowd about a particular pop star's "reputation". They really strive to make their sound stand out from the everyday top 40 clones and judging by the reaction of the room they've succeeded.
Sleeping with Sirens are on tour with co head-liners The White Noise, along with Palaye Royale, and Chase Atlantic, and are on a high with their song "Legends" off of their new album "Gossip" (also the name of the tour) being used as the official song of the US team in the upcoming Olympics. "Gossip" is the 5th studio album from the Orlando band signed to Warner Bros. Records and it's safe to say that this WARPED TOUR band has made it to the big time!
