Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor announced today that Slipknot will not be performing at their own festival this year but instead plans are to have Stone Sour play in replace. Full festival details are scheduled to be announced on July 10th with another year joining forces with the legendary Ozzfest but Taylor wanted to give everyone an early heads up that the founders won't be performing.
Since creating the festival back in 2012, Slipknot has performed every year but with the band taking time off after completing their last tour cycle in support of their 5th studio album, ."5: The Gray Chapter," they’ll be skipping out on this year’s festival.

“I think in a lot of ways your festival has to live past you, or it’s not gonna live at all. If it has to live and breathe on your presence, then it’s not a festival, and it’s not for anybody else but you. And for us, it’s always been more about the art and the music and everybody… That’s why we put so much work into it to begin with, is to really make sure that it was stable and it was strong and the foundation was there.”
